PSCU Financial Services’ Sweepstakes Boosts

Participating Institutions Added 24,100 New Subscribers

St. Petersburg, FL, Sept. 22, 2008 – Credit unions that enrolled in PSCU Financial Services’ Bill Pay Summer Beat the Heat Sweepstakes added 24,100 subscribers and 74,000 incremental payments during the two-month promotion that ran from June 1 to July 31. There was also a 3.6% increase in subscribers making more than three payments per month. The sweepstakes offered a grand prize of $10,000, a $1,000 first prize and five second place winners received an iPod NANO. In addition, each credit union was guaranteed one $100 winner. Each subscriber that made three online bill payments in each month was entered into the contest and received one entry for each payment made during the month.

“Holding a sweepstakes is an excellent way for credit unions to build excitement into their online bill payment programs. This is just one example of how our cooperative works together with our member-owners to help their staffs promote programs with innovative campaigns that encourage new subscribers and greater usage,” said Cindy McGinness, Manager Relationship Development, PSCU Financial Services. “Thanks to the success of this sweepstakes, we are already planning to launch another bill payment sweepstakes in 2009.”
The $10,000 grand prize winner was Tami Maggio, of Meriwest Credit Union of San Jose, Calif. Other winners came from the following institutions: Stanford Federal Credit Union, Calif.; Red Canoe Credit Union, Wash.; Telhio Credit Union, Ohio; and Kaiser Federal Bank, Calif.

“PSCU Financial Services works with our staff on an ongoing basis to help us enhance activation and usage rates. We have offered PayLynx™ to our members for more than four years, and we look forward to continued subscriber growth for this convenient, user-friendly online bill payment product,” said Greg Meyer, Community Relations Manager, Meriwest Credit Union.

There were 2.3 million total entries in the sweepstakes. The prize winners were drawn randomly. Credit unions that use PayLynx needed to subscribe to the sweepstakes in order for their members to be included. There was no charge for enrollment.

The cooperative’s popular online bill payment product has more than 700,000 subscribers and is deployed at 465 institutions, including more than 200 credit unions. PayLynx subscribers are making more than 3.1 million payments online each month. Subscribers benefit from the cooperative’s award winning 24/7 Contact Center and FraudNet, a comprehensive bill payment fraud detection and prevention tool. PayLynx boasts a greater percentage of active subscribers and higher rates of acceptance for electronic bill payment by billers than other providers of the CheckFree service. It also offers a specialized online bill payment solution for small businesses.
