PSCU Financial Services Funds 25 Teachers for Credit Union Week at the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher InstituteSt. Petersburg, FL, May 4, 2006 – Educators from around the country, representing 18 PSCU Financial Services member-owner credit unions, have been notified that they have been awarded a grant to attend the second annual Credit Union Week at the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute. This grant allows 25 teachers to attend—at no charge—an intensive week-long seminar at Colonial Williamsburg, in Williamsburg, Va. Seminar participants learn innovative methods for communicating the principles of America’s unique history and system of government and prepare new instructional materials for use in their own classrooms. PSCU Financial Services and First Data Western Union Foundation have jointly donated $100,000 to fund educational programs for students and the Credit Union Week teacher seminars conducted by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The Foundation is a not-for-profit institution that preserves and operates the restored 301-acre Colonial Williamsburg site and produces educational materials related to the founding of the United States as a nation and life in the 18th century. Half of the joint contribution will pay for interactive electronic field trips for students and resource kits that include educational tools and lessons for classroom instruction. The electronic field trips are web-based interactive television events that bring Colonial times to life for more than millions of students annually. The remaining half of the gift will underwrite the second annual Credit Union Week at the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute. Credit Union Week will be held July 12-19, 2006. The grant provides more than $2,000 for each teacher, which covers program admission, room and meals and a $200 stipend to be used for travel expenses or the purchase of educational materials. “We support the educational activities of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation because it teaches the democratic principles that brought our nation into existence and guarantee the freedoms we enjoy today,” said David J. Serlo, President and CEO, PSCU Financial Services. “Sponsoring teachers helps bring individualized educational material into local classrooms and has long-term benefits through the lives of these teachers and their students.” The following PSCU Financial Services member-owner credit unions nominated the teachers that were selected to attend Credit Union Week 2006 at the Teacher Institute:
