Cruisin’ & Explorin’ San Antonio

10:00 am – 4:00 pm (Optional Group Activity)

RiverwalkThe San Antonio River is the site of San Antonio's beginnings and the reason for its' founding. It was named by a Franciscan missionary who passed through the area in 1691. The river played an important part in San Antonio's history, and continues to do so for diverse reasons.

We begin our Friday group activity with the opportunity to experience the river on the colorful River Cruisers. Our barge captain will provide historical and entertaining commentary as we pass through the pages of San Antonio History.

After cruising the River, we are off to explore the El Mercado or Mexican Market. Serving as a hub of Commerce years ago, it has retained much of its charm of the past, with its quaint shops offering local crafts, art, clothing and food.

Lunch has been arranged at La Margarita! Each guest will have a chance to try their version of a top shelf Margarita.

Guests will then be taken to the Alamo for a brief historical talk about the importance of the battle of the Alamo or a formal tour if desired. You will then be given time to shop and explore the San Antonio River area on your own before returning to the Resort.

Cost: $85 per participant. Transportation is provided.

Optional group activity related fees paid by credit card will be processed at time of online registration.

Fredericksburg, Shopping, Lunch and Becker Vineyards Tour

Come join us on a scenic tour of the Texas Hill Country. You will spend time in the quaint town of Fredericksburg, with an opportunity for shopping on your own. Fredericksburg was settled by a small group of German settlers in 1846. Many of the structures in this charming town retain traditional German styles in its native limestone buildings and century old gingerbread houses. Without a doubt, shopping in Fredericksburg is truly a delightful adventure!

Lunch will be enjoyed at the Peach Tree Inn, a local favorite for generations.

VineyardOur last stop for the day is a wine tasting and tour at the Becker Vineyards. This vineyard was planted in 1992 on the site of an ancient stand of native mustang grapes. The newer winery replaces an original 19th century German stone barn and stands beside the circa 1880 log cabin, water well and milk house recreating the appearance of the original farmstead. There are 36 acres of French Vinifera grapes planted in the vineyard and this winery hosts the largest underground wine cellar in Texas.

Cost: $90 per participant. Transportation is provided.

Spouse/Guest Activity

(Optional spouse/guest activity on Thursday)

Wired Designs Studio, Lunch, Shopping and More

Wired Designs StudioFor this tour, we invite you to create your own masterpiece. As a budding artist you will head to the Wired Design studio, located in the Artisans Alley. Every student will then take their masterpiece home with them.

Following class, lunch will be provided at the newly opened Pomegranate Room. A seasonal appropriate menu will be provided along with a glass of wine.  After lunch, time will be given for retail therapy at the unique specialty stores at Artisans Alley before returning to the JW Marriott resort.

Cost: $110 per participant. Transportation is provided.
